Essex North Shore is seeking an EL Recruitment Specialist to join its team. The EL Recruitment Specialist facilitates the recruitment, admissions, and enrollment process for prospective students and their caregivers.  The EL Recruitment Specialist actively works with students and caregivers who are non English speakers.

 

Written and oral fluency in another language other than English.

CORI, SAFIS and SORI required.

Job Description

EL Recruitment Specialist

 

FAIR LABOR STANDARDS ACT (FLSA) CLASSIFICATION: 

This position is classified as Exempt (Professional).

 

REPORTING STRUCTURE:

The EL Recruitment Specialist reports to the Director of School Counseling.  

 

QUALIFICATIONS: 

  1. High School Diploma or equivalent.  
  2. Bachelor’s Degree preferred, from an accredited college or university, in a related field;
  3. Bilingual skills are necessary;
  4. Certified as a translator;
  5. Experience working with non English speakers;
  6. Experience translating written and oral communications;
  7. Knowledge of diverse populations;
  8. Experience working with middle school and high school students preferred;
  9. Ability to prioritize and manage multiple projects with strict deadlines;
  10. Ability to communicate, both oral and written, to individuals with diverse backgrounds;
  11. Ability to speak before groups of individuals;
  12. Ability to accept, reflect and act upon feedback;
  13. Ability to coordinate projects, work independently and follow through with project completion;
  14. Must facilitate and model respectful, professional communication and teamwork, demonstrating a positive attitude; 
  15. Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Superintendent-Director may find appropriate and in conformity with state and federal law.

DUTIES:

  1. Support and assist prospective and new students and their caregivers with the admissions process providing guidance, information and resources.
  2. Provide outstanding customer services in all areas of admissions, including completion of the admissions application, residency documentation, school transcripts, placement test scores, etc. to ensure a successful admissions process, as well as statutory compliance.
  3. Assist in making residency determinations for member community or agricultural program placement.  
  4. Serve, monitor, and track English Learner students from application through graduation.
  5. Strictly maintain the confidentiality, privacy and security of student records and other sensitive information.
  6. Collaborate closely with the Director and Admissions Team in all areas related to admissions, assisting with special projects as needed.
  7. Provide service excellence through courteous, informed, accessible and professional engagement.
  8. Perform other duties that are not inconsistent with the role of the EL Recruitment Specialist as assigned by the Director of School Counseling.

 

PHYSICAL WORKING CONDITIONS:

This work is performed predominantly indoors.  Lifting, pushing and pulling equipment weighing up to 25 pounds may be required. Walking, standing, stooping, kneeling, reaching and climbing stairs.  The work requires frequent in- and out-of-district travel. 

 

TERMS AND CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT:

  1. This is a 205 day position and may require up to five additional days as scheduled by the Director.
  2. The nature of this position requires hours beyond the regular school day.  It is expected that the person filling this position will give priority to completing the necessary tasks and set hours accordingly.
  3. Salary and fringe benefits to be established by the Superintendent-Director in accordance with the policies established by the School Committee.
